How to Create a GTBank Domiciliary Account
If you are a Nigerian, by now you will be very familiar with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB). Opening a domiciliary account with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) is very easy provided you have all the requirements.
In this post I will be teaching you to to create a domiciliary bank account with GTBank, requirements needed to create a GTBank domiciliary account.
You do not need to worry about location irrespective the state you reside in Nigeria, because Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has their branches distributed across all states in Nigeria.
First of all before we continue, we will be looking at some terms you are going to come across as we proceed with this post.
The first one we will be looking at is Domiciliary Account
What do we understand when we hear the word Domiciliary Account? This is very simple. The word domiciliary means an account that has foreign currency in it, which differs from the currency of your country.
Examples include pounds account which is also a domiciliary account, Dollar account, Euro account and so on. The beautiful thing about GTBank is that you can actually open these accounts at the same time provided you already have a GTBank savings account.

Let me elucidate a little. For example, as Nigerians the currency we use here is Naira. For you to receive another currency that is different from Naira into your account, you need a domiciliary account to achieve it.
It should be noted that before you can have a domiciliary account with GTBank you must first have a savings account with GTB. This is not a difficult task as long as you have all the requirements to open a GTBank account.
Lets First Discuss the Steps to Open a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Savings Account
Read the following steps below on how to create a GTBank savings account. Before you even proceed to the bank, you need to have the following requirements;
- A valid means of identification (either drivers license, voters card, national identity card, international passport, etc.)
- A current utility bill that is not more than two months.
- Recent passport photograph about two to three copies.
- Bank Verification Number (BVN) if you already have so that it can be linked with your new account.
- Phone number
Now lets proceed to opening GTBank Savings account properly. The steps are below;
- Walk into any Guaranty Trust Bank close to you and walk straight to the customer's care help desk where you will be directed to the marketers for the account opening
- You will be asked to provide some of the documents i highlighted earlier, give it to the marketer to go through it. This is to verify the authenticity of them.
- You will be given a form to fill. In this form you will have to provide all your information correctly.
- Submit your passport so that it can be affixed to the form you filled.
- Fill in your BVN so that it can be linked to your new account.
Wait for some time for you to get your account number. It can take up to a day, two days or hours depending on the bank.
After creating your saving s account, you have already done 80% of the work with creating your domiciliary account.
How to Create Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Domiciliary Account
On successful creation of your GTBank savings account, you need to create prepared for the following phase which is the opening of GTBank domiciliary account.
Before you proceed to the bank to ask for an additional account form you need to carry the following documents along with you to the bank;
- Identity card
- utility bill and very important
- 4 referees
To get these referees, you need to go to the bank and ask them to give you the referee's form that you want to open a domiciliary account.
You can also add a Naira account to your new account> naira account is also called current account.
After you have gotten the four referees, proceed to the bank where you will be given an additional account opening form.
